Minister for Industries, Law, and Coir, Shri. P. Rajeeve, who awarded the certifications, emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards to meet growing domestic and international demand. "Kerala is already a globally recognized brand, but it is crucial that products under the Kerala Brand stand out for their quality and ethical production," he said.
The first six units to receive the Kerala Brand certification include MRL Kuttanadan Coconut Oil (Alappuzha), Kedison Expellers (Kottayam), Varapetty Coconut Oil (Ernakulam), K M Oil Industries, Sahakari Integrated Coconut Processing Plant (Kannur), and Kallatra Oil Mills (Kasaragod). These units were selected based on stringent criteria, including local sourcing of materials and adherence to industry standards.
Principal Secretary APM Mohammed Hanish noted that the project would benefit grassroots enterprises, generating jobs and enhancing productivity. Another 14 products are set to receive the Kerala Brand certification soon.
Shri S Harikishore, Director of Industries & Commerce and MD of KSIDC, highlighted that the initiative positions Kerala as a national leader in promoting quality and ethical industrial practices. The 'Nanma' brand aims to bring all major products from Kerala under its umbrella, ensuring their authenticity and global market appeal.
